Department of Labor and Occupational Safety
The department aims to effectively implement the labor laws, rules, and policy directives by reducing unemployment by adapting the country's manpower to new technologies and markets and creating a safe, dignified and healthy working environment for workers by maintaining industrial relations. The specific objectives of the labor sector are as follows:
- To reduce unemployment by creating an efficient and competitive labor force as per the demand of the domestic and international labor market.
- To protect the workers working in the industrial business and informal sector and to promote a healthy working environment.
- To ensure access of women, youth, Dalits, tribals, janajatis, Madhesis, Muslims, conflict-affected and marginalized areas and groups in employment.

The long-term vision of the labor sector is to create employment and self-employment opportunities through the production of skilled and skilled manpower that can compete in the domestic and foreign labor market and contribute to the strengthening of the national economy and poverty alleviation by providing non-discriminatory, safe, dignified and healthy working environment.
